Here we are again with this short series on Metaverse companies in different sectors, today, we take a look at mobile companies enabling us in video hardware.
1. Wonder
Wonder is a Berlin-based startup whose videoconferencing tools help people share real experiences with a new interaction paradigm that allows groups to interact virtually
Creating spaces that always feel personal, no matter how many people are joining, with wonder it’s completely effortless to connect/interact.
Founded in 2020 by Leonard Witteler, Stephane Roux and Pascal Steck. Wonder now has a worldwide community of over 3.8 million users (as of February 2022), discovering and creating new ways to communicate. It has raised some $11 million in funding and is one of the most promising mobile hardware companies enabling the Metaverse.
2. Merge
Merge is based in San Antonio, Texas and is a company that lets you hold and interact with digital 3D objects and travel anywhere virtually, enabling a fun and engaging new way to experience the world via its virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) products.
Founded in 2014 by Andrew Trickett and Franklin Lyons, Merge has raised a total of $10.1 million in funding over four rounds to date.
3. ANTVR
ANTVR was founded in 2014 by Nie Jingzhou and Qin Zheng with a mission of providing innovative products and solutions to customers worldwide. As a startup, it grew rapidly and built a team of 100+ people in two years. ANTVR is dedicated to developing technologies on virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), holographic reality (HR) and wearable devices. Which includes VR headsets for PC/mobile phones, VR cameras, and more upcoming innovative products.
Similarly, it also has the world’s leading optical technology and outstanding compatibility. ANTVR pioneered the open-source VR industry and fuelled VR Information Age. Similarly, In 2015, ANTVR rolled out co-brand VR devices with Lenovo, OnePlus and Hisense. In 2016, ANTVR worked with Huajiao Webcast, which marked the new VR Webcast era.
ANTVR has acquired funding from Sequoia Capital and other listed venture capitals, with $56.5 million raised so far.
4. Wikitude
Wikitude, a Qualcomm Technologies company, is an augmented reality (AR) pioneer and leader in the Computer Vision and Spatial Computing industries with its AR technology optimized for smartphones, tablets, and smart glasses. Furthermore, it has powered over 1 billion app installations. Wikitude is trusted by enterprises, agencies, and developers in more than 180 countries. It is the go-to AR technology partner for innovation and business solutions.
Likewise, founded in 2008 by Philipp Breuss-Schneeweis, this Salzburg, Austria-based company has raised nearly $3 million in funding.
5. Banuba
Banuba is an artificial intelligence lab specializing in augmented reality SDK development. It brings the most immersive Face AR features into any app or website.
Likewise, brands use its technology to delight consumers and increase purchases with innovative AR try-on features, easy to capture and share. Developers can boost engagement and user-generated content in your app. With creative video editing tools tweaked specifically for mobile social media.
Founded in 2016 by Dmitry Ogievich and Viktor Prokopenya, Banuba has raised $12 million in funding over two rounds.
