3. Kura Technologies
Kura Technologies is building a 150° field of view, 95% transparency, 8K resolution, and eyeglasses form factor eyepieces AR glasses and platform for customizable software application development. Initial targeting at use cases includes — but is not limited to — global telepresence, training, visualization, and more.
Its patent-pending technology on optics, display, and the system is solving what bottleneck today and the upcoming hundreds of billions enterprise and consumer AR market.
The company’s platform is designed to be integrated with software companies to provide enterprise and consumer solutions, and consumer telepresence and collaborations.
Founded in 2016 by Kelly Peng, the San Francisco Bay Area startup has raised a total of $5 million in funding over nine rounds.
4. Mira
Mira is a fast-growing augmented reality company, transforming productivity for the Global 2000 workforce and the military. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Mira was founded in 2016 by Matt Stern, Montana Reed and Ben Taft. Having raised some $6 million in funding over two rounds, the startup is backed by the world’s top VCs, including Sequoia Capital, Founder’s Fund, Greylock Partners, Marc Benioff, and others.
It deploys the industry’s most accessible and scalable AR solutions to enhance safety and oversight in industrial environments such as in the manufacturing of chemical explosives and maintenance of military equipment. Its award-winning AR headset is safety rated, compatible with PPE, and powered by smartphones, making the company 10x more affordable and 10x faster to deploy.
The startup’s convenient Mira Connect software allows see-what-I-see video calls to enable remote subject-matter experts to effectively guide frontline workers in real-time, from anywhere, without having to travel.
The Mira Flow software allows its customers to gain unparalleled insight into operational data when utilizing our hands-free Augmented Reality headsets to guide engineers and technicians through complex workflows while providing managers with macro operational trends and insights.
5. Surgalign
Created in 2020 from the legacy of companies Pioneer Surgical and RTI Surgical, Surgalign is a global medical technology company committed to the promise of digital health to drive transformation across the surgical landscape.
The company is developing its HOLO Portal™, the world’s first AI-driven augmented reality guidance system for the spine and the first clinical application of our HOLO™ AI digital health platform.
Surgalign is headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, with commercial, innovation and design centres in San Diego, Warsaw and Poznan, Poland, and Wurmlingen, Germany. It is one fo the augmented reality companies, to keep an eye out for.
