Dedicated Venue
UPS (United Parcel Service), the American multinational shipping and parcel supply chain management company, has joined the Metaverse, launching its own dedicated venue in Decentraland. The move aims to focus on small businesses in the virtual world.
A Fortune 500 company and one of the world’s largest shipping couriers, UPS will use the space in Decentraland — called The Helping You Be Unstoppable Store developed in partnership with companies Inc. and Fast Company — to hold its own events, including those with a focus on education in sales and marketing, though the company has stated it will not currently offer personal interaction with UPS staff. Further down the line, UPS hopes a service could evolve within the metaverse giving customers the ability to post items without ever having to leave Decentraland.
Trademark Filing
The move comes after UPS filed a trademark to protect its brand in the metaverse and NFT space in April of this year. A month later, UPS announced an official partnership with ComplexLand, a virtual culture event taking place in the metaverse.
As reported by the Metaverse Insider, UPS has mirrored the actions of other global companies, namely Hasbro, Gucci, Zara, and Walmart, each wanting to be part of the metaverse and Web3 revolution.
