A leading industrial software developer, Kongsberg Digital, has reached a two-year agreement with Yara International, the largest ammonia distributor in the world, to develop digital twin technology for Yara’s factories in Herøya, Norway, and Sluiskil, Netherlands.
This agreement includes an operational twin for Yara’s Herøya production facilities and a project twin for the carbon capture project in Sluiskil. The goal is to eventually implement this solution across all Yara production facilities worldwide.
The operational twin for the Herøya facility will combine industrial and technical data with equipment documentation to create a detailed, contextualized 3D model of the plant. This model will integrate maintenance, operational, and facility information from various sensors and data sources, aiding users in making timely decisions.
In Sluiskil, the twin technology will support the new carbon capture project by enhancing collaboration and data transfer from project phases to operation. The digital twin will establish a “digital thread” through all project stages, aiding efficient transition to the operational phase.
