At the Hannover Messe 2024, a representative from AVEVA brought to light the transformative power of digital workflows in tackling intricate engineering projects. AVEVA, an industrial software company, has forged a strong partnership with AWS, becoming part of the Schneider Electric group just last year.
AVEVA delved into its vision of leading the industrial transformation by innovating and promoting responsible resource utilization. Central to this effort is the integration of all AVEVA’s products into a single cloud platform powered by AWS, bringing engineering data into context through seamless collaboration.
Elaborating on AWS’s offerings, AVEVA explained how it supports customers across the entire industrial lifecycle, from design and construction to operations and optimization. The Connect platform, AVEVA’s digital experience hub, enables the sharing of information, insights and the leveraging of AI capabilities within a unique ecosystem.
However, the challenges of complex engineering projects were not overlooked. AVEVA acknowledged the common hurdles of siloed data storage, distributed workforces, aging professionals, and stringent regulations. AVEVA’s solution, Unified Engineering, hosted in the cloud alongside Asset Information Management (AIM), forms the foundation for digital twin development.
To illustrate the power of digital workflows, AVEVA showcased a case study involving KBR, a leading engineering, procurement, and construction company. KBR, in collaboration with AVEVA and a client, achieved remarkable success in constructing an offshore platform in the Caspian Sea.
By implementing a cloud-based architecture heavily reliant on AVEVA’s engineering solutions and AIM, KBR seamlessly integrated data from various sources, including third-party and competitor systems. Laser scanning technology further enhanced the engineering processes, paving the way for future adoption of extended reality (XR) and virtual reality (VR) concepts.
The benefits were substantial: KBR experienced a significant efficiency boost, faster and better-informed decision-making, increased workflow automation, enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities, and improved collaboration among teams, partners, and clients.
As the future beckons, KBR is exploring the integration of XR and Unified Operations Centers (UOC), enabling end-to-end enterprise visibility and contextualization.
AVEVA’s presentation highlighted how consistent, living digital twins empower teams and engineers to work collaboratively, leveraging real-time information and insights supported by cloud platforms and AI capabilities. The AWS digital twin tech, seamlessly integrated into AVEVA’s solutions, is revolutionizing the way complex engineering projects are approached, delivering unparalleled efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
