UK Government and ESO Sign MOU to Develop Digital Twins for Energy Sector

The National Grid of the UK, ESO, has signed a memorandum agreement with the UK government to build digital twins for the energy sector.

As reported by Current-news, the MOU comes as the UK government focuses on developing and deploying digital twins as part of its digital twin program, spearheaded by the Department for Business and Trade.

ESO will collaborate with the UK government to showcase digital twin development, share energy data, and lay out policy requirements as part of the MOU.

The partnership will bolster ESO’s Virtual Energy System Programme, which is looking to create a digital twin of the UK energy system. The MOU will initially focus on developing technical design and interface identification, as reported by Current-news.

All in all, the MOU between the UK national government and ESO signifies the growing demand for digital twin technology to improve critical infrastructure and systems. Consequently, governments worldwide are adopting digital twins at pace.
