A Seattle, Washington-based startup, Rec Room was founded in 2016 by Nick Fajt, Cameron Brown, Dan Kroymann, Bilal Orhan, Josh Wehrly, and John Bevis, a group of people with a shared passion for VR, AR, social, and multiplayer experiences.
Rec Room is a great place to build and play games together. Party up with friends from all around the world to chat, hang out, explore millions of player-created rooms, or build something new and amazing to share with us all.
Rec Room is a free platform, and cross plays on everything from phones to VR headsets.
Since its founding, Rec Room has raised an astonishing $294 million in funding over eight rounds.
2. HaptX
Founded in 2012 by Jake Rubin and Dr. Robert Crockett, HaptX builds technology that simulates touch with unprecedented realism.
HaptX Gloves enable natural interaction and realistic haptic feedback in virtual reality and robotics for the first time. HaptX is a venture-backed startup with offices in San Luis Obispo, CA and Seattle, Washington and has raised over $36 million in funding over six rounds.
3. Infinite Retina
Infinite Retina helps entrepreneurs in spatial computing space (AR/VR/MR/XR) get funding, find customers, hire talent, and get noticed.
Launched in 2019 by Irena Cronin, Marcelo Moyano and Robert Scoble, Infinite Retina is based in Pasadena, California.
4. VNTANA
VNTANA is a Los Angeles, California-based startup whose SaaS platform makes 3D asset production and distribution fast and scalable for apparel, footwear and furniture.
3D is driving high ROI but implementing 3D has been time-consuming and expensive. VNTANA’s patented algorithms automatically prepare and optimize 3D files for every visualization scenario — turning weeks of work into hours. Its API allows customers to integrate with virtually any platform allowing teams to add 3D capabilities within existing workflows.
VNTANA was founded in 2012 by Ashley Crowder and Ben Conway and has raised a total of $12.7 million in funding over seven rounds. It is one of the Augmented reality companies making waves in the Metaverse.
5. Atheer
With headquarters in Santa Clara, California, Atheer is a global company founded in 2011 by Soulaiman Itani. With teams in the United States, Canada, Europe and India, the Atheer platform is being used today by leading industrial enterprises to transform the productivity, accuracy, quality, and safety of their front-line teams, providing real and radical business impact.
The Atheer Front Line Worker Platform is a suite of AR and AI-powered tools that connect front-line teams to all the instructions assistance, expertise, guidance, knowledge, and enterprise systems they need. In the context of work and on any device.
Customers include Porsche Cars North America, Volkswagen Group UK, Anglo American, Clorox, Contact Energy, Berry Global, Hilti, Schaeffler, Scania, GMR, International Flavors and Fragrances, Audi, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The respectable $35.3 million in funding Atheer has raised over 5 rounds is assisting the company’s AR-powered Front Line Worker Platform enable front-line teams to work faster, better and safer.
