Simul8 and Cranfield University has received funding from Innovate UK to optimize hospital operations over a four-month period. Specifically the funding will look to improve patient workflow management, reduce delays and enhance resource allocation at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust through simulation.
The initiative if a success for the trust will implement a digital twin to optimize hospital operations and improve efficiency over the long term. This announcement comes as the UK National Health Service is in dire straits due to long waiting times, limited staff and lack of funding. These digital twins have the potential to reduce the burden on key workers due to their ability to make organizations such as hospitals run more efficently through better optimization.
